Tiger Swim Club hosting second swim meet Friday

The new Belleville Tiger Swim Club is
hosting a home meet again at 6 p.m. Friday
at its new pool, inside the renovated Belleville
High School.

The club hosted the Riverview Swim
Club on Oct. 19 and is encouraging residents
to come out and support the swimmers.
The club is new again this year after
past pool complications stopped operations
in the past.

Tessa Haney, vice president for the
club’s parent board, said in a release on
behalf of the club that the “BTSC absolutely
loves the new facilities,” and that “the
pool/ locker rooms, and technology are
amazing.”

Swimmers are taught the four basic
strokes: free, back, breast and butterfly.
Swimmers also must learn how to dive/
go off the starting blocks for competition.
Before last week’s meet, swimmers also
learned what goes on and is expected at
such events.

The club consists of boys and girls ranging
in age from 5- to 18- years. In order for
to join, swimmers must be able to swim 25
yards or one length of the pool.
The swim club meets for practice twice
a week, and is coached by John Cast and
assistant instructors Vanessa Mills, Rachel
Lange, Stacy Storms and Mike Hermasillo-
DeBoer.

The pool is open from 7-8 p.m. on
Wednesdays for Open Swim. Cost is $5 per
family and all are welcome to join.
Other members of the club’s parent board
include President Will Hawley, Secretary
Georgi Axton and Communications Director
Shawn Moore.
